How FilamentRadar works

Every 2–3 hours, our software visits online filament shops and reads prices from the data the shops publish themselves (for example schema.org product data, which Google Shopping uses too). Product names are cleaned up: we recognise the brand, material, product line, colour, spool weight and diameter, and we merge the same filament sold by different shops into a single product page.

The site is aimed at people buying filament in Poland: we compare Polish shops and EU shops that deliver to Poland, and all prices are shown in Polish złoty (zł, PLN).

How do we know it's a deal?

We don't trust crossed-out "was" prices. We call it a deal when today's lowest price is at least 10% below the median price of the last 30 days from our own price history. We also flag the lowest price in 90 days and products in the cheapest 10% of their material, based on the price per kilogram.

Prices and currencies

Prices include VAT. Where a shop lists the cost of shipping to Poland, we also show the price including delivery. Offers in euros and Czech koruna are converted at the National Bank of Poland (NBP) mid rate on the day of the update.

For shops and marketplaces

Our crawler identifies itself as FilamentRadarPriceBot, obeys robots.txt and sends requests slowly, with pauses of several seconds. We only read publicly available prices, availability and delivery costs – we never log in to shops and we don't collect customer data.

The crawler's requests are cryptographically signed (Web Bot Auth, RFC 9421) with an Ed25519 key. We publish the public key at https://filamentradar.pl/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory, so you can verify that a request really comes from us.

Our Allegro REST API integration identifies itself with the header FilamentRadar.pl/1.0 (+https://filamentradar.pl/o-nas). It is used only to read public filament listings (price, availability, link to the listing) for price comparison. The application does not manage sellers' accounts, listings or orders.

If you'd like your shop to be included, want it removed from the comparison or have noticed a problem with our traffic, e-mail [email protected].

FilamentRadarPriceBot – information for website owners

What it is: the crawler of FilamentRadar, a consumer price comparison site for 3D printing filament in Poland and the EU. It reads publicly available product data (price, availability, shipping cost) from online shops and sends visitors to the shop's own product page. It does not log in, does not add to cart, does not collect personal data and is not used for repricing or competitor monitoring.

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; FilamentRadarPriceBot/1.0; +https://filamentradar.pl/o-nas)

Behaviour: obeys robots.txt (including Disallow rules for our user agent), sends at most one request every 2 seconds per website and a few hundred requests per website per run, a new run starts at most every 2 hours. Product pages are found via the shop's sitemap; shipping information pages are read about once a week.

Verification: requests are signed with HTTP Message Signatures (Web Bot Auth, Ed25519, tag="web-bot-auth"). Key directory: https://filamentradar.pl/.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory. Websites that reject signatures from a not-yet-verified key receive unsigned requests, still identified by the User-Agent above.

Opt out: add User-agent: FilamentRadarPriceBot / Disallow: / to robots.txt or e-mail [email protected].

Affiliate links

Some links to shops are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It doesn't affect the order of offers – we always sort them by price.
